This quite piques my curiosity. Do you feel like saying anything more about the comic (I wonder if you remember enough about the story to identify the issue...) and what was it you found terrifying?

Well, it's embarrassing ...

I was an easily frightened child. The Superman villain that specifically terrified me was Brainiac, and what terrified me about him was the city in the bottle: I got to worrying about whether I would know if I lived in a city in a bottle, and that seemed like a very scary possibility. (Now, of course, I think if I couldn't tell it wouldn't matter ... but that was a long time ago.)
